NEET 2022 exam is expected in May while JEE Main 2022 exam is likely to be conducted in March, April, May and June. As per the latest report, NTA would be conducting the CET for central universities in May this year.
With every passing day, the buzz around two important national level entrance exams i.e. NEET 2022 and JEE Main 2022 are growing exponentially. NEET 2022 exam date is expected to be scheduled somewhere in May or June. While NTA – the National Testing Agency has been tight lipped on the matter, several sources close to it have mentioned that the schedule of Engineering and Medical Entrance Exam might change slightly this year. Initial reports coming from sources close to NTA hint that JEE Main 2022, will be held from March onwards while NEET 2022 exam, is expected to be held in May – June 2022. One of the key reasons for change in the schedule is being attributed to the pending elections in many states early next year.
Joint Entrance Examination, JEE Mains 2022 is likely to begin from March instead of February this year. Like in 2021, National Testing Agency, NTA is planning to conduct JEE Mains 2022 four times. However, unlike this year, the next year’s exams are expected to begin from March. As for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET UG 2022, NTA is expected to conduct that in May or June – shared an MoE official. Check updates on various NTA exams here.
NEET 2022 As Single Session Exam In May-June
Similar to Engineering Entrance Exam, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam – NEET 2022 is also expected to be delayed from its usual schedule. The medical entrance test for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses in the country, is unlikely to move to multi-session and CBT i.e. computer based test format. For now, the National Testing Agency is planning hold the medical entrance exam in May or June 2022. Like last year, NEET 2022 exam is likely to continue as the single day, single session exam.
As for the NEET 2022 for admission to undergraduate medical and dental course sin the country, the ministry official has shared that at present it is likely to be conducted in May. On the pattern of NEET and the number of exams, the official shared that the demand to conduct NEET multiple times and in computer based test or CBT format (like JEE Mains) was submitted to the Ministry of Health.
“So far no decision has been taken on the same,” he added, sharing that as per the present decisions, NEET 2022 is scheduled for May 2022. These dates, it may be noted, are subject to changes based on the situation of the pandemic. Information and updates would be made available in due course of time on neet.nta.nic.in.
JEE Mains 2022 Likely In March, April, May And June
In much needed relief to the engineering aspirants, Sources have hinted that NTA plans to continue the format of 4-sessions for JEE Main 2022 Engineering Entrance Exam even this year. However, in one key change, the session 1 of the JEE Main 2022 exam is likely to start in March instead of February as was done last year. This means that the 4 sessions of JEE Mains 2022 exam is likely to be held in March, April, May and June, respectively. In terms of registration process, aspirants should expect the application process to commence from January onwards via the official exam portal.
Speaking on the proposed dates for the JEE Mains and NEET – two of the largest entrance examinations conducted by NTA, an official from Ministry of Education told TOI that the exams for the engineering entrance might be delayed due to the pending elections in many states early next year.
“Considering the pending elections, the schedule could be tweaked this year. The first exam is likely to be scheduled in March, followed by April, May and June,” the senior official shared. No update was shared in regards the start of the Application dates, at present. Given the timeline, however, it is likely that the registration for JEE Mains 2022 might begin from January itself on jeemain.nta.nic.in.

CUCET For Admission To Central Universities – in May/June
Another important examination organized by NTA is the CUCET i.e. Combined Entrance Test or CET for Central Universities. CUCET 2022 is expected to be held from this year onwards to streamline admission process to all Central Universities based in the country. Although exact details will be shared later on, sources have hinted that CUCET 2022 will be held in May – June 2022. As and when the detailed notification for CUCET 2022 is floated, it will also help get clarity on whether it will replace other university level entrance exams such as BHU Entrance, JNU Entrance, DUET, etc.
Apart from these, NTA is also expected to conduct the Combined Entrance Test or CET for Central Universities from this academic year onwards. The examinations are likely to be conducted in May this year. However, from next year onwards, it is expected that the CET would be conducted multiple times, as is envisaged in the National Education Policy, NEP 2020. Clarity on whether CUCET would replace BHU Entrance, JNU Entrance, DUET, etc. is still awaited.
Apart from JEE Mains, NEET and now CET, NTA also conducts examination for UGC NET, ICAR AIEEA, JNU entrance, BHU entrance test, etc. Dates and notifications are expected to be released on the official websites of the respective examination soon.
